Abstract

This book, which was a Ph.D. dissertation, is divided into three chapters and a long introduction in which the author re-presented information about the emergence of Rûs, their name, and the geography of their lands. In this introduction, she depended on the Muslim geographers, historians, and Nestor's Russian Primary Chronicle. She didn’t omit the Persian sources as well, such as the book of Hudūd al-’Ālam of an anonymous author, al-Qazwīnī, Ibn Khurdādhbeh, etc. I think it is a normal introduction for a book in Arabic, presented to Arab readers who haven't enough information about the origins of Rûs and the emergence of their state...
